When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek." (Psalm 27:8) As each new year begins, this is my prayer. I so want to be able to say at the end of my life, "I have done what God has given me to do". I want to accomplish His work. Not what I think I should do. Not what others think I should do. But I deeply desire to live in such a way that His unique agenda for me is being lived out in discernment and obedience with each step, each assignment, each adventure, each divine appointment. Living in the center of God's will is the most challenging, exciting, joyful and rewarding way to walk. But life gets in the way. Our best plans get muddled. Our mixed motives confuse our wants with His will. Busyness crowds out the important with the urgent. Noise drowns out our ability to hear His voice. Clutter and muchness and manyness prevents us from seeing the profound simplicity of walking with Jesus. The only way I can walk in the Lord's game plan is to LISTEN. And the only way I can hear is to become still and quiet and centered on God and His Word and His still small voice. This doesn't just happen. Even church, Bible study, and fellowship don't provide the intimate communion I need (although those certainly feed and encourage me!) I must be intentional about seeking God. Otherwise, my best intentions get lost in the stacks and interruptions of daily life. That's what the Day of Refreshing is all about. We are training to be able to discern God's wisdom, His marching orders and power. Then we take time in silence to sit at His feet and submit our own plans to Him. Could you use a retreat like this? If so, I invite you to join us for the February 18 Psalm One Day of Refreshing. We have a combination of teaching, prayer, discussion, encouragement, and silence. Our goal is to walk so closely with Jesus that the dust of His robe settles on our feet. That can only happen if we set aside time to be with Him. We meet from 10 to 4 in a beautiful setting of hills and trees and gardens and ponds. This is for men and women, lay and clergy, married and single, any age, any church-anyone who desires to walk with God. The topic is always different, but always centered on Christ and grounded in the Word. Our goal is genuine transformation as we stop moving long enough for the Lord to get a good hold on us. Come and enjoy the presence of God-with the accountability and encouragement of others who also want to serve Him in freedom, intimacy and obedience. Breakfast, lunch and materials are provided. Cost is a tax-deductible donation to the work of Psalm One Ministries. Come join us as we seek to walk in greater obedience and intimacy with God. Space is limited so RSVP soon to commit this time to the Lord! P.S. Could you use an extended retreat with more time at Jesus' feet? Mark your calendar NOW to join us for the Refocus and Refuel Retreat March 2-4. http://www.psalmone.org/silent_retreats.htm |
