Refocus and Refuel Retreat

November 11-13, 2016 Refocus and Refuel Retreat

From time to time, I need to pull away for some extended time alone with the Lord. I never fully realize quite how much I needed this getaway with God and God alone. He pours out such love on me. He invites me to sit with Him in silence and peace until my spirit was is still as the mirror-like water. Only then am I really ready to listen. He speaks. He challenges me, encourages me, and renews me.

If I want to walk with God in vital intimacy and obedience, times like these are not a luxury. They are a necessity. If I don’t make the time, I can find myself running on fumes and my own stale agenda instead of following the Holy Spirit’s presence and fresh marching orders.

Uninterrupted, unhurried time at Jesus’ feet doesn’t just happen. My best intentions to set aside a block of time and space for God often never materialize. Having an appointment in the Word and prayer every day is certainly helpful. But from time to time, I need to clear the schedule to pull away from the noise and clatter and “to do” lists and busyness and muchness and manyness.

"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10)

It takes a while to “dial down” and become still enough to hear that still, small voice. It takes longer than a few minutes here or there to truly let the whirlwind of my full life settle so I can truly see what is worth keeping, what should be weeded out, what treasures I may be missing. When the dust settles, His light shines into every corner of my life. Priorities are reexamined, choices are reassessed, thoughts are taken captive, and God’s life-giving Word and voice become louder and clearer.

It’s not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

Do you need this? Do you long to respond to God’s gracious invitation to get away? To cease, to stop the multi-tasking, to be still, to let the whirlwind settle, to let the noise disappear… To let God be God, to let Him sort through the clutter of my life, to keep what is eternal, to get rid of what weighs me down… Do you ever get overwhelmed and just need to be still…and know that He is God?

Could you use some extended quiet time with Jesus?  How about some spiritual direction? Do you sometimes feel that your time alone with God even at the Days of Refreshing is not enough?  You begin to trace a theme through Scripture and it's time to return to the rat race?  Is there a question, a burden, an issue that you need to discuss at length with the Father?  Would you just enjoy a stretch of uninterrupted peace and quiet alone with Him?

“But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.”  (Luke 5:16)

If He needed it, how much more do I??...

I invite you to join me for the Psalm One Refocus and Refuel Retreat March 11-13. Come to refocus, refuel, rest, reboot, revel, relax, recollect, reconsider, revive, return, recommit, remember, receive, recover and rejoice in Jesus.

I so enjoy these getaways! If you have done this before, you know how it pays off in transforming ways. We have had some very special times alone with the Lord as well as some great fun and fellowship together at past retreats. I always benefit from extended time in the Word, prayer, meditation, journaling, sitting still at His feet. I need to take a time like this often to keep my priorities and perspective straight.

This is a “semi-silent” retreat.  We open with time in the Word and group heart preparation, close in sharing, teaching, and prayer, and we fellowship and laugh over meals.  In between, however, we commit to the gift of absolute silence as we meet with God and God alone, so you can enjoy unhurried, uninterrupted times of study, prayer, meditation on the Word, journaling, just resting in His presence. I am available for spiritual direction if you would like to consider how God might be leading you. Think of it as a stretched-out Day of Refreshing, with far more time to enjoy silence and solitude at Jesus' feet.

We will break away to Mount St. Joseph in Delhi (Western Cincinnati, off Route 50). You can walk through the falling leaves as you walk the beautiful grounds through the trees along the river. There are of peaceful nooks and crannies to spread out and revel in extended time alone with Jesus.  You will have your own simple room with shared bathrooms on the hall. We have a lounge to ourselves and a kitchen for drinks and snacks. Cost is $125, which includes all housing, meals and materials.  We'll begin with Friday dinner and wrap up after lunch on Sunday. (We form a wonderful community of support, accountability and encouragement for the weekend, so if you cannot arrive by 6:30 Friday and stay until noon Sunday, we ask you to wait for another Psalm One event.)

To register for this retreat, send a check for $125 (payable to Psalm One Ministries) to the address below.
